Raves and Random Recommendations

I know I'm only internet famous to some friends and family, but I wanted to add this to spread the word about things that I love and hopefully help out some places as well.

V&A Villa, Siem Reap,Cambodia
One of the more expensive places I've stayed. The owners are a British/Cambodian couple that are a wealth of information and everyone that works there is incredibly friendly. It also has a very clean pool. Its about a ten min walk from downtown Siem Reap.

Breeze Guesthouse, more specifically Mr. Tony, Moulmien, Myanmar
The guesthouse itself is very bare-bones and has a problem with bedbugs in some of the rooms (so keep your pack/clothes off the bed and check the mattress), BUT Mr. Tony is amazing. He's a wealth of information AND he reminded my friend of her grandmother (in a good, caring way). He's 73 and eagerly waiting for his daughter to get a job so he can retire. He runs tours on his off days. We got to go on one of these tours and it was one of the best things we've done. He lent me a book to read and spent an evening talking philosophy with us.

Big Butter Hostel, Chiang Rai, Thailand
It's about a half an hour walk from the bus station, but this place is ADORABLE. The owner is sweet and speaks great English. She even let me borrow her personal bike so I could run some errands for a couple of hours in the afternoon.

Green Tulip Hostel, Chiang Mai, Thailand
Clean hostel, helpful people. My friend had all her bags lost by the airline and they helped her out a lot so she wanted me to add them to the list.

Dalat Family Hostel, Dalat, Vietnam
One big crazy loving family. A great family dinner is prepared every night. The meal doesn't change nightly but there is no shortage of food.

Long Guesthouse, Ho Chi Min City, Vietnam
Family run and incredibly friendly. Right in the center of the downtown tourist district.

Hanoi Winter Hostel, Hanoi, Vietnam
Another family run place with UNLIMITED coffee and bananas all day. Adorable 3yo son of the owner is a hoot.
