Bed bugs. A travelers worst nightmare.

We were back in Yangon once again. And we went back to the first place that we had stayed. They had a massive dorm room, but it was clean and each bed had its own curtain, outlet and fan. Unfortunately it also had bedbugs. And Cheyenne found out the hard way when she woke up at 3 am with a massive cluster of bleeding bites on her leg.

Every time I get a ton of mosquito bites in the same time, I've always been paranoid that I've somehow gotten bed bugs. There's a huge difference. You'll definitely know. We asked to switch beds and set about searching these mattresses for eggs, skins or bugs. And this is when I saw my first ever real bed bugs. So we packed up our stuff and left the hotel. Luckily, we hadn't put any of our stuff on our beds, so we quarantined our pajamas and set off.

When we explained to the front desk why we were leaving, they didn't seem to understand why we were so adamant. One of the people even asked us if we were sure they weren't ants. Yes, yes we're sure.

We were incredibly paranoid for the next few days, but the bugs didn't come with us, and I am now an expert at checking mattresses.

Word to the wise: learn what a bedbug looks like and how to check for them. Don't leave tons of stuff on your bed overnight that they could crawl around in. If you do get bedbugs, you have to wash everything and leave it out in the sun for a couple days. Those suckers don't go easily.
